characteristics of good governance


While the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) mengidendtifikasikan characteristics of good governance system (the characteristics of good system of govermance) as quoted by the Institute of Administration of State (200: 7) as follows:
a. Participation: Every citizen has a voice in decision-making, either directly or through a legitimate union intermediation that represents his or her interests. This participation builds on the freedom to associate and speak and participate constructively.
b. Rule of law: The legal framework should be fair and undertaken indiscriminately, especially the law for human rights.
c. Transparency. Transparency is built on the freedom of informal flow. Processes, institutions and information directly accepted by those in need of information should be understood and monitored.
d. Responsiveness. Institutions and processes, should try to serve every “stakeholder”
e. Consensus Orientation. Good Govermance mediates wider interests both in terms of policies and procedures.
f. Equity. All citizens, both men and women, have the opportunity to improve or maintain their welfare
g. Effectiveness and afficiancy. Processes and institutions produce according to what has been outlined by using the best available resources
h. Accountability. Decision makers in government, the private sector and society (civil societies) are accountable to the public and stakeholder institutions. This accountability depends on the organization and nature of decisions made, whether the decision is for internal or external purposes.
i. Strategic vision. Leaders and the public must have a good perspective of good govermance and human development in the forefront of this kind of building
